Senior Electrical Engineer | Reno, NV
IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Reno, NV, to lead design efforts for moderate to complex building electrical projects. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client guidance while overseeing the analysis, design, and implementation of electrical systems in buildings. You'll also work within project budgets, support training and mentoring efforts, and collaborate across disciplines to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities
• Lead design efforts for the analysis and design of electrical systems for moderate to complex projects
• Develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
• Perform site assessments and prepare detailed analyses and technical reports
• Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong professional relationships
• Conduct in-process reviews of electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence while applying IMEG quality control processes
• Provide technical assistance in resolving field issues with limited support from senior staff
• Train, mentor, and motivate staff
• Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research and innovation efforts within IMEG
• Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in project interviews and presentations
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
• Professional Engineer (PE) License required
• 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
• Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
• Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
• Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
• Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
• Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
• Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
• Strong training and mentoring skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
