Senior Electrical Construction Estimator

Position Title: Senior Electrical Construction Estimator
Department: Estimating / Preconstruction
Reports To: Chief Estimator

Location: Clearwater, Lakeland and Orlando Florida

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Construction Estimator to join our preconstruction team and work on some of the most exciting projects in Tampa Bay. The Senior Electrical Construction Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates for electrical construction projects from conceptual design through final bid submission.

This position requires strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, labor requirements, subcontractor and vendor pricing, and applicable building and electrical codes. The successful candidate will be able to interpret construction documents, identify project risks and opportunities, develop detailed estimates, and collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and able to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret electrical plans, specifications, drawings, addenda, bid documents, and contract requirements.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical systems, equipment, materials, and labor.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for commercial, industrial, healthcare, or other electrical construction projects.
  • Solicit, analyze, and level pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Prepare bid proposals, scope letters, clarifications, exclusions, and assumptions.
  • Identify gaps, discrepancies, conflicts, and potential risks within construction documents.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project scope reviews.
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, operations, and business development teams to ensure estimating assumptions align with project requirements.
  • Develop value-engineering options and alternative approaches to improve project competitiveness and cost efficiency.
  • Understand the impact of schedule requirements on project costs.
  • Prepare estimates at various stages of design, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
  • Support post-bid reviews and turnover meetings with project management and operations teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in electrical construction estimating.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing detailed estimates for projects with contract values of $15 Million or more.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction materials, labor productivity, installation methods, and construction sequencing.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with estimating software such as Accubid Anywhere and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with digital takeoff tools.
  • Experience with Design-Assist.
  • Electrical contractor or field installation experience.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work for extended periods at a computer reviewing plans, specifications, and estimating documents.
  • Ability to attend construction sites, project meetings, and pre-bid site walks as required.
  • Ability to navigate active construction sites while following all applicable safety requirements.
