The Water/Wastewater Practice is seeking a CAD Technician in Salt Lake City, UT.

The ideal candidate will operate under the direction of project managers and engineers as part of a team working on a variety of civil engineering projects. The primary focus for this position will be to support utility relocation (water, sewer, gas, electrical, fiber, etc.) efforts on mid to large-sized transportation projects.  This position will also support a wide variety of water / wastewater infrastructure projects, including, but not limited to, water distribution and sanitary conveyance design (gravity and pumped systems); pump stations; reservoirs; utility relocation; and preparation of engineering and construction plans and exhibits.

What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:
  • Computer-aided drafting of water, wastewater, stormwater, and other underground utility (fiber, electric, gas, etc.) infrastructure elements and systems. 
  • Prepare detailed utility drawings and construction documents for heavy civil and municipal projects.
  • Develop plans, sections, details, and schedules for underground piping, pump stations, concrete utility vaults, and other water/wastewater components.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and preparation of cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure proper integration of underground utility elements
  • Revising project drawings marked up by the client and/or engineer.
  • Creating and managing electronic document file structures and naming conventions in accordance with company or client standards.
  • Working closely with project managers, engineers, and other drafters to set up and manage construction drawings and design documentation.
  • Creating and/or modifying base drawings, which may be used in a variety of presentation documents.
  • Serving as a productive team member and proficient user of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and OpenRoads Designer to work on a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output that conforms to company standards.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Closely following CAD standards from numerous agencies, clients, and engineering firms.
What You BringRequired Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Computer Drafting, Civil Technology, or a related field preferred. 
  • Experience with Bentley software - OpenRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D 
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work well under tight deadlines. 
  • Desire and willingness to work in a team-based environment that involves coordination with multiple design disciplines and offices. 
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of drafting experience.
