About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to lead the development of electrical design deliverables for complex power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centers, substations, transmission, and industrial infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for executing advanced design tasks, coordinating multidisciplinary models, and ensuring high-quality, constructible electrical design packages are delivered in support of EPC project execution.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial electrical design, strong 3D modeling and CAD expertise, and the ability to lead design efforts while mentoring junior designers in a fast-paced engineering environment.

What You'll Do

Electrical Design Leadership

  • Lead development of electrical design deliverables across large EPC projects.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate:
    • Single-line diagrams (SLDs)
    • Electrical plans and layouts
    • Conduit and cable tray routing drawings
    • Grounding and bonding systems
    • Lighting and power distribution layouts
    • Equipment arrangement drawingsProvide design support for systems including:
    • Medium and low voltage distribution systems
    • Motor control centers (MCCs) and switchgear
    • Substation interface systems
    • Emergency and standby power systems
    • Balance of Plant (BOP) electrical systemsEnsure all designs are accurate, constructible, and compliant with project requirements and industry standards.

3D Modeling & BIM Coordination

  • Lead development and coordination of complex electrical 3D models.
  • Perform and manage clash detection and resolution activities.
  • Ensure integration of vendor equipment models into project designs.
  • Maintain BIM model integrity and enforce company and project CAD standards.
  • Support model reviews with engineering and construction teams.

Project Execution

  • Independently execute electrical design scopes through conceptual design, detailed engineering, and construction phases.
  • Develop material take-offs (MTOs) and quantity estimates.
  • Support preparation of construction packages and design deliverables.
  • Track and manage assigned deliverables to meet project schedules.
  • Provide input into design sequencing, planning, and constructability reviews.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

  • Coordinate electrical design activities with civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation, and construction teams.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and coordination meetings.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts across disciplines
  • Ensure full integration of electrical systems within overall facility layouts.

Construction & Field Support

  • Provide support during construction, startup, and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct field verification and site visits as required.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and resolve field engineering issues.
  • Update drawings and models based on field conditions and as-built information.
  • Support system energization and commissioning activities.

Quality & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with company drafting standards, engineering procedures, and project requirements.
  • Perform quality checks on electrical drawings and models for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support continuous improvement of CAD and BIM workflows.
  • Maintain organized and accurate design documentation and records.

Mentorship & Technical Support

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level electrical designers.
  • Support training and development of design staff.
  • Share best practices in electrical design, modeling, and EPC execution.
  • Assist engineering leadership with technical problem-solving and design optimization.
What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of electrical design experience.
  • Experience in EPC, power generation, industrial, utility, or infrastructure projects required.
  • Demonstrated experience working on multidisciplinary design teams.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Electrical drafting and design principles
    • Power distribution systems (MV/LV)
    • Industrial electrical layouts and systems integration
    • Construction documentation and fabrication detailingAdvanced proficiency with:
    • AutoCAD
    • Revit
    • Navisworks
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Experience with Plant 3D, BIM coordination workflows, and clash detection tools strongly preferred.
