Electrical Design Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Atlanta, GA
Employment Type: FTE / Contract (TPC)

Job Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support aircraft electrical design, testing, certification, and substantiation activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in aerospace or aircraft engineering, with knowledge of aircraft processes, certification requirements, and electrical design.

This role will support electrical test planning, aircraft cabin safety substantiation, design changes, certification activities, supplier coordination, and troubleshooting with airline customers and test teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical test plans, checklists, and inspection plans.

  • Develop substantiation reports, test plans, and test reports related to aircraft cabin safety.

  • Prepare presentations and technical materials for project and customer meetings.

  • Manage small STC/PMA projects related to electrical requirements and technical data deliverables.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to obtain required technical data and resolve inquiries.

  • Support responses to significant technical issues and airworthiness concerns.

  • Identify applicable major design changes impacting aircraft electrical systems.

  • Support relationships and technical communication with certification and regulatory agencies.

  • Interface with airline customers during troubleshooting activities at flight-test locations, test laboratories, and engineering jigs.

  • Support aircraft electrical design and certification activities while ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.

  • Collaborate with engineering, certification, suppliers, customers, and other cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific/engineering field strongly preferred.

  • 4–7 years of overall engineering experience.

  • Knowledge of aircraft engineering processes and substantiation techniques.

  • Familiarity with Airbus and Boeing aircraft processes.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Familiarity with aircraft mechanical/structural design processes, materials, fabrication methods, and aerospace hardware.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a cross-functional engineering team.

  • Professional communication and presentation skills.

Required Technical Skills

  • AutoCAD or DraftSight experience.

  • Electrical design and engineering documentation.

  • Aircraft testing and substantiation concepts.

  • Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aircraft interiors.

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Design Engineer or Substantiation Engineer.

  • Working knowledge of FAR regulations.

  • Knowledge of aircraft certification requirements and processes.

  • Experience supporting STC/PMA projects.

  • Experience working with DERs, certification teams, suppliers, or regulatory agencies.
