Description
Electrical and Controls Designer
VERUS is looking for a self-motivated, organized, and results-driven Electrical and Controls Designer to join our close-knit team. This position allows for those with a degree in electrical engineering to grow and advance into an electrical engineer position once they are professionally licensed.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities and attributes of the Electrical and Controls Designer include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Design of low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and other electrical/control systems for industrial, commercial, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Design of industrial, commercial, and manufacturing control systems, including the plantwide integration of PLC and network hardware and interconnections, and control panel design.
  • Perform electrical and control engineering tasks associated with projects, including design, drafting, engineering calculations, and specifications.
  • Work under, and receive mentorship from, a senior engineer on comprehensive electrical and control design packages including: electrical and control diagrams, plans, details, panel arrangements, bill of materials, and hazardous area classification.
  • Manage the assigned electrical and controls work package deliverables, including coordinating with other disciplines and drafting teams. Prioritize and set deadlines, while also being adaptable and flexible to changing needs.
  • Ability to communicate competently with team members and Clients, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experienced and/or comfortable with working in the field for engineering surveys and commissioning activities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3-5 years of applicable experience.
  • Solid basis of design and drafting using AutoCAD or Microstation (or both) is preferred.
  • EIT (FE) is preferred but not required. Intention to take FE or PE exam in near future, if not already, is a minimum requirement.
