Electrical CAD Designer - Controls & Power Systems

Lewisville, TX | Onsite
Level I: $70,000-$90,000 annually
Level II: $80,000-$100,000 annually

CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking an Electrical CAD Designer - Controls & Power Systems for an opportunity with a growing engineering organization in Lewisville, TX. This position will focus on developing and maintaining electrical drawings and technical documentation for control panels, power distribution equipment, and related electrical systems.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on SOLIDWORKS Electrical experience, a strong understanding of electrical schematics and controls, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to produce accurate, production-ready documentation.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop, revise, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and supporting technical drawings using SOLIDWORKS Electrical.
* Create detailed electrical documentation for control panels, switchboards, power distribution equipment, and associated control circuits.
* Collaborate with electrical, controls, and manufacturing engineers to convert engineering concepts and design requirements into accurate, buildable drawings.
* Review drawings for accuracy, consistency, organization, and proper revision control.
* Support designs involving UL508A, UL891, and UL-listed electrical equipment.
* Maintain and improve drafting templates, symbols, libraries, and documentation practices within SOLIDWORKS Electrical.
* Apply practical knowledge of electrical and controls systems when interpreting designs and participating in technical reviews.
* Identify opportunities to improve drafting processes, drawing quality, standardization, and overall workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

* 3+ years of electrical drafting/design experience using SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2D and/or 3D.
* Hands-on SOLIDWORKS Electrical experience is required.
* Experience working with electrical control panels, power distribution equipment, switchboards, or comparable electrical systems.
* Familiarity with UL508A requirements and/or UL-listed panel designs.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control logic.
* Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience related to electrical drafting, electrical systems, controls, or a similar technical discipline.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams.
