Job description

Overview

Position Summary: ย 


Responsible for working within a team to perform required system inspections on utility PV powerย 
plants. Perform mechanical/electrical inspections and commissioning testing. Document all inspections,ย 
observations, and test results. Communicate inspections, observations, and test results withย 
Commissioning CM/GF. Document and assist with PV system troubleshooting and corrective actions.ย 


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

ย 
โ€ข Assist with the inspection and testing of PV plants to specifications and contract documentsย 
โ€ข Complete all commissioning documentation during inspectionย 
โ€ข Document all outstanding issues and deliver all documentation in a neat and orderly manner forย 
review by the General Foreman and Commissioning Manager ย 
โ€ข Perform LOTO duties as outlined by the company and site-specific policiesย 
โ€ข Perform field test data entry as neededย 
โ€ข Perform final visual and mechanical inspections on equipment before energization dateย 
โ€ข Support third party testing and inspections. (Transformers, MV audits, MV cable tests, etc.)ย 
โ€ข Ensure proper use of PPE and conformity to safety procedures by all employeesย 
โ€ข Keep testing equipment clean and orderly at all times. Ensure calibration is up to date.ย 
โ€ข Report any missing or broken tools to CM/GF and inform CM/GF when consumable supplies areย 
low ย 
โ€ข Care for and maintain all issued PPE in accordance with manufacturerโ€™s specificationsย 
โ€ข Work together and take lead of other Techs ensuring quality of work and adherence to all safetyย 
procedures ย 
โ€ข Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements: ย 

โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent preferredย 
โ€ข Classroom education or training in photovoltaic systems preferredย 
โ€ข Photovoltaic installation experienceย 
โ€ข Three years of electrical experience in the Industrial sector or in fields related toย 
Renewables or two years of experience as a MasTec Commissioning Tech I ย 
โ€ข OSHA 10-hour, First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E certifications preferredย 
โ€ข Ability to take lead in commissioning tasks with minimal oversightย 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: ย 


โ€ข Take reasonable care of your own and othersโ€™ health and safety and of those who may beย 
affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for workingย 
toward the MasTecโ€™s Zero Injury principles ย 
โ€ข Ability to read and understand electrical single line and three-line diagramsย 
โ€ข Ability to use a multi-meter/Commissioning test equipment (i.e. Meters, insulation resistanceย 
tooling, DET 2/3, Solmetric/Seaward testing units) ย 
โ€ข Understand electrical theory and base troubleshooting methodsย 
โ€ข Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral formย 
โ€ข Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
