Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Electrical and Automation Engineer is responsible for plant process control system [PCS] monitoring, application programming, testing, commissioning, and maintenance. Perform and coordinate electrical design and development of new equipment and the modification of existing electrical equipment consistent with plant standards and for the improvement of plant performance including rate, availability, OEE, and MTBF. Other responsibilities include facilitating the use of the PCS as a resource for the Process, Maintenance, Production, Shipping, Environmental, and Quality Departments.
Relocation assistance provided for candidates outside this area.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Prevent downtime due to faults; continuous improvement to Electrical and Automation systems to both extend the life of existing equipment and facilitate eventual replacement.
  • Support installation of new plant equipment from conception to operation. Assure integration of new systems into plant operations.
  • Work closely with Electrical Supervisor, Process Engineers to analyze, improve and document all aspects of operations.
  • Provide technical expertise in the field of electrical, power distribution, motors and transformers, arc flash study, electrical tests, electrical code, instrumentation, drives, PLC and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for integration, maintenance, and application of Electrical systems, as well as the incorporation of equipment areas previously outside PCS scope, conversion of relay logic systems, and replacement or integration of PLCs.
  • Identify improvement opportunities to maximize equipment life cycle and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Electrical Engineering
Required Work Experience: Minimum 1 - 3 Years of Electrical Engineer experience in the cement or similar industrial facility
Required Technical Skills:
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and process control systems is preferred (ABB 800xA, Siemens S7).
  • Experience in instrumentation, motors, starters and VFD's, communication networks (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet).
  • SAP, Autocad, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

Travel Requirements: 10% for training, development and potential projects
Additional Requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge of high and low voltage power distribution systems, weighing and batching systems, PLC control and machinery interlocking systems, variable speed drives and motor control systems.
  • Used to developing and working within revenue and capital budgets
  • Able to make decisions on electrical safety matters
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • High initiative, self-starter
  • Strong planning and organizing abilities
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
