Position Summary:
Under general supervision, independently analyzes blueprints, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for small to medium sized projects. Provides guidance, training, and direction for less experienced estimating staff.
What You Will Do
  • Produce precise electrical estimates for various project types, including commercial, industrial, high-tech, and health care facilities, either independently or under the direction of a designated project lead.
  • Read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, tele data, security, fire alarm, audio visual plans, and specifications as they relate to the electrical work.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and clearly communicate, estimated scope of work.
  • Develop project take-offs and equipment counts based upon the specifications and drawings.
  • Utilize technology such as BlueBeam, Accubid and LiveCount to perform and document electrical budgets.
  • Utilize understanding of basic circuitry and wiring methods for electrical systems.
  • Provide support and training of estimating processes, procedures and systems for junior estimators, interns, and other team members as necessary.
  • Contribute to and support value engineering exercises.
  • Create OneNote required documentation, qualifications, and exclusions.
  • Participate in Estimating team and review meetings and clearly define your estimate work product.
  • Adhere to the PRIME Safety Program, complying with safety regulations, procedures and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a physical presence onsite and provide assistance to specific groups, managers and project management teams as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested; duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
What You Will Need To Be Successful
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to train and educate others on estimating procedures and software
  • Knowledge of structural, architectural and mechanical documents and their impact on electrical scope.
  • Knowledge of NEC, local codes and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Materials and their applications.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Accubid and LiveCount.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, multi-tasking and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with preparing, completing, explaining, and reviewing estimates with Chief Estimator, Internal, and External Customers.
  • Ability to grasp and follow existing estimating process and procedures.
  • Strong work ethic.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May supervise or coordinate the work of others who assist in specific assignments.
Special Requirements/Physical Demands/Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting with minimal health or safety hazards.  Noise level and temperature is moderate.  Minimal lifting or climbing.  This position is expected to be fully in-person, onsite, with some travel not limited to, other offices, work sites and local business errands.  Requires operating office machines such as, but not limited to, computers, copiers, scanners, and phones.
