Our client, Case Engineering is looking for a full time Electrical Designer.
Case Engineering is a full-service electrical engineering firm providing power, lighting, and telecommunications expertise. We work with owners, architects, general contractors and electrical contractors on new construction, renovations, and studies serving public agencies and private entities in the Puget Sound region and beyond.
We are currently seeking a full time, entry - mid level Designer to join our team of licensed engineers, seasoned designers, proactive project managers, and detail-oriented drafters. Our small team enjoys working in a fast-paced environment while engaging in diverse projects.
The right candidates for this position will have the relational skills to serve clients, the ability to critically assess problems and recognize opportunities, are contributors to effective solutions and strategies, and are motivated to take action and get results.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives, involving conventional types of plans and specifications.
  • Responsible for engineering design of power distribution, lighting, communications and controls.
  • Design single-phase and three-phase power distribution systems (120/240V, 208Y/120V, 480Y/277V, and up to 600VAC).
  • Perform service load calculations, generator and UPS sizing, and panelboard load calculations.
  • Calculate panel board sizes based on new and existing loads.
  • Size conductors and overcurrent protection devices in accordance with applicable codes.
  • Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
  • Perform 2D drafting in AutoCAD to create project deliverables.
  • Utilize Excel to perform load calculations.
  • Ensure project documents comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Review and comment on completed construction documents.
  • Prepare electrical, low voltage, and fire alarm specifications.
  • Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that design conforms to standards and customer requirements.
  • Compile data and prepare technical reports related to engineering studies and project evaluations.
  • Conduct field surveys of existing electrical conditions.
  • Perform occasional multi-day trips for training and project support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with the architectural and engineering design process and preparation of construction documents using AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, and procedures, to the design and production of construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of design techniques, and principles involved in production of electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Must have experience with the investigation and analysis of complex problems having a number of variables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in the design of commercial office buildings, industrial buildings, and warehouses is desired.
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code, Washington State Energy Code, Seattle Electrical Code, and Seattle Energy Code.
Preferred (Bonus) Experience and Skills

  • Experience using SKM, ETAP, or similar software for arc flash/fault current analysis.
  • Experience using AGi32, Visual Lighting or similar software for lighting analysis.
  • Experience coordinating directly with utility companies, contractors, and owners.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (NCEES)

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000
