The Opportunity


A highly established and growing electrical contractor in the Greater Boston market is looking to appoint an Assistant Project Manager to its Commercial Construction division.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious electrical construction professional who wants exposure to major, technically complex projects and a clear pathway towards becoming a Project Manager.


The company has a substantial secured backlog and is delivering major electrical packages throughout Boston and Cambridge, with projects extending several years into the future.

Its portfolio covers Healthcare, Life Science, Commercial, Institutional, Residential, Hospitality, Industrial and Sports & Entertainment, with particularly strong growth planned across the healthcare market.


The Role


Working alongside experienced Project Managers and Project Executives, you will support the delivery of major commercial electrical construction projects.

Responsibilities will include:


  • Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project delivery.
  • Support project scheduling, budgeting and cost tracking.
  • Coordinate RFIs and submittals.
  • Assist with procurement and material tracking.
  • Maintain project documentation.
  • Support change order preparation and tracking.
  • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers.
  • Attend project and client meetings.
  • Assist with project forecasting and reporting.
  • Track schedules and project milestones.
  • Support project closeout and commissioning activities.
  • Work closely with field leadership to resolve project issues.
  • Develop the commercial and technical skills required to progress into a Project Manager position.


What We're Looking For


We are interested in candidates who have already developed a foundation within electrical construction and are ready to take the next step in their career.

Relevant backgrounds could include:

  • Assistant Project Manager.
  • Project Engineer.
  • Assistant PM / Project Coordinator.
  • Electrical construction management.
  • Electrical field experience combined with project management exposure.


Candidates should ideally have:

  • Experience working for an electrical contractor.
  • Understanding of commercial electrical construction.
  • Exposure to RFIs, submittals, procurement and change orders.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with both field and office teams.
  • A desire to progress into full Project Management.


Experience within Healthcare, Life Science, Commercial Office, Institutional, Residential, Hospitality or other large-scale commercial projects would be beneficial.


Major Project Exposure


This is not an opportunity limited to small fit-outs or service work.

The division is currently delivering major electrical construction packages valued into the tens of millions of dollars, including several secured projects between approximately $45M and $85M.

You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced PMs and Project Executives while gaining exposure to complex projects that can significantly accelerate your career.
