Position Title: Benefit and Payroll Specialist, HR
Department: Human Resources
Entity: PVJC
Reports To: HR Manager
Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist employees with payroll and benefits related matters.
  • Review and validate timecards, overtime, PTO, and other payroll-related data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Maintain payroll records and audit for accuracy.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries.
  • Support open enrollment, including system setup, employee communication, and benefit elections.
  • Manage benefit enrollments, changes, COBRA notifications, and terminations.

  • Serve as liaison with benefits brokers and carriers to resolve issues.
  • Provide guidance to employees on plan coverage, eligibility, and enrollment options.
  • Maintain compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee data within HRIS systems.
  • Run regular audits to ensure data integrity.
  • Generate reports on payroll, benefits, headcount, and compliance as needed.
  • Support ACA reporting, 1095/1094 forms, W-2 preparation, and other year-end compliance work.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and employment law requirements.
  • Assist with workers' compensation claims and leave of absence administration
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in human resource or related field preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Mandarin a plus
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a manufacturing/operations environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience in generating HR reports and familiarity with HRIS system, ADP, Workday.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective employee relations management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge related to all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations related to compensation and employment relationship.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with demonstrated expertise in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
