Job SummaryElection Inspectors are responsible for conducting Election Day related activities at the polling places on Election Day.
Job Duties• Responsible for all Election Day processes laid out by Wisconsin law and Clerk Services.
• Set up, open the polls, clean up and close the polling location on Election Day.
• Register qualified voters of the municipality.
• Record voter participation in the poll books, check proof of identification, issue ballots and inform voters of the proper balloting procedure.
• Determine acceptability of absentee ballots, record data and process absentee ballots as prescribed by law.
• Tabulate write-in votes, maintain ballot security and complete all necessary forms by the end of night, with accuracy and legibility.
• Assist voters and provide instruction as necessary.
• Promote and maintain a positive public relation with not only staff but community members, preserving order at the polling place at all times.
• Commit to maintaining the amount of training hours determined by Clerk Services.
• Report for duty between one to four times per year and special elections as required. Must be available to work the entire Election Day, generally from 6:30 a.m. until approximately 9 p.m. or later.
Election Schedule:
• February - held on the 3rd Tuesday in February (if needed)
• April - held on the 1st Tuesday in April
• August - held on the 2nd Tuesday in August (even years)
• November - held on the Tuesday after the first Monday of the month of November (even years)

Minimum Qualifications• Must be a qualified elector of the municipality or live within the county.
• Aptitude for numbers, sequential counting and ability to reconcile and compile totals.
• Must be able to hear in an environment with background noise.
• Must be proficient in reading, writing and effective communication skills.
• Must be able to maintain neutrality in a politically charged environment and get along well with others.
• Flexibility in positions, shifts and locations of assignments.
• Must be 18 years of age (high school students 16 or 17 years of age may qualify with additional requirements).
