Job Overview

Description

Highly organized, detail individual who will perform responsible clerical and technical duties in the performance of conducting elections. Assists the general public. Works with the States voter registration database to process absentee balloting and voter registration. Set up and maintain organization of election equipment and supplies. Works at early voting location sites throughout Dubuque County.

Job Duties

  • Accurate, data entry using the State's Voter Registration database.
  • Assists the general public in person and over the telephone.
  • Stuffs ballots to be mailed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school, subject to background check.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Dubuque County does not sponsor work visas or provide immigration sponsorship.

Supplemental Information

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Detail orientated, ballots and record keeping; thorough knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; proficiency in utilizing computer word processing, spreadsheet and software applications; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to work under pressure, ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, organize work flow, meet deadlines; ability to consistently demonstrate professionalism, courtesy and tact in personal interactions and function effectively in stressful situations; ability to deal with challenging situations, handle complaints and display good listening skills; ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other county employees, election workers, public officials and the general public; ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information and data.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods, sit, bend, stoop, squat, lift up to 20 lbs., and walk steps with reasonable accommodation.
  • Variable work hours including some evenings and weekends will be required.
