What are Elds?

ELDs, or Electronic Logging Devices, are digital tools used in the trucking industry to automatically record a driver’s hours of service (HOS) and driving time. They are mandated by law in many countries, including the United States, to ensure compliance with safety regulations and help prevent driver fatigue. ELDs replace traditional paper logbooks, reducing paperwork and making it easier for drivers and fleet managers to track, manage, and share records of duty status. These devices connect directly to a commercial motor vehicle’s engine to accurately capture data. Using ELDs helps improve road safety and simplifies compliance for both drivers and companies.

What is an Eld job?

An ELD (Electronic Logging Device) job typically involves monitoring and managing electronic logging systems used in the transportation industry. ELDs are mandated by regulations to track driving hours, ensuring compliance with safety and work-hour laws. Professionals in this role may oversee system installation, troubleshoot issues, and train drivers on ELD usage. They also ensure that log data is accurate and compliant with industry regulations. This job is common in trucking and fleet management companies.
