Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time

Salary Range: $85,000 – $115,000
Bonus Eligible: Yes

Work Authorization Requirement: Must be a U.S. Citizen (ITAR compliance requirement)

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to develop, optimize, and sustain manufacturing processes related to elastomer materials and products. This role supports efficient production, high product quality, and strict compliance with aerospace and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement across operations.

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering & Optimization

  • Develop, implement, and optimize elastomer manufacturing processes, including compression molding, injection molding, extrusion, mixing, curing, and calendaring.
  • Analyze production and process data to identify inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis tools.
  • Create, maintain, and improve manufacturing documentation such as SOPs, work instructions, control plans, and PFMEAs.

Manufacturing Support

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams by troubleshooting process, material, and equipment-related issues in elastomer manufacturing.
  • Define, validate, and control process parameters for new and existing products to ensure process stability, repeatability, and compliance with specifications.
  • Support tooling design, tooling trials, and qualification activities for elastomer components.

Equipment & Technology

  • Specify, validate, and support elastomer processing equipment, including mixers, extruders, molding presses, curing ovens, and inspection systems.
  • Lead or support capital equipment projects, including justification, procurement, installation, and validation.
  • Identify and implement new manufacturing technologies to improve material flow, curing performance, throughput, and product consistency.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Support safety initiatives by identifying and mitigating risks associated with high-temperature processes, chemical handling, and press operations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to elastomer materials, curing agents, and manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong Manufacturing Engineering experience within an elastomer manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a regulated industry, preferably aerospace.
  • Knowledge of ITAR requirements (mandatory).
  • Understanding process control, tooling, equipment qualification, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems.
  • Hands-on experience with elastomer materials, formulations, and curing processes.
