JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Manager ensures the management of the company's quality, process and/or business improvement efforts within a defined segment of the organization. Responsible for interfacing with engineering, customers, and Supply Chain or suppliers, on quality related issues. This person typically has a staff of quality engineers, quality administration and inspectors reporting directly to him/her. Responsible for managing all quality assurance personnel within division.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions (Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.)

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate quality assurance programs for the company's aircraft cabin interior assembly products.
  • Ensure the quality management system complies with regulatory, industry, and customer requirements.
  • Collect and analyze aircraft cabin interior assembly samples to evaluate their quality.
  • Perform Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) and create false proof manufacturing processes to detect and avoid nonconformances.
  • Implement and monitor Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Generate cost savings by monitoring Cost of Quality KPI.
  • Set up and improve robust processes in operations.
  • Identify contractual requirements and risks for exposure, and aid to implement mitigation plans.
  • Ensure that division is properly prepared for internal, customer, and/or third-party audits and ensures audits are properly managed.
  • Interface with supply chain department on supplier related issues.
  • Review statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control.
  • Identify critical points in the manufacturing process and specify sampling procedures to be used at these points.
  • Develop vision, strategy, and objectives for quality.
  • Lead process and continuous improvement in operations
  • Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.
  • Provide training to employees on QMS and Repair station Procedures.
  • Monitor development program milestones regarding quality
  • Assist various departments with problem solving tools and be a problem-solving champion.
  • Manage and oversee the company's corrective and preventive action processes and their effectiveness.
  • Identify and understand customer requirements.
  • Oversee the company's internal and external nonconformance system.
  • Administer and assist management with monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist and develop direct reports
  • Maintain good customer communication and relationships; strive to meet or exceed customer satisfaction expectations.
  • Participate in the development of product specifications.
  • Stop production if serious product defects are present.
  • Identify critical points in the manufacturing process and create statistical sampling plan at those points by assigning Initial Reliability requirement.
  • Familiar with AS9100 requirements and FAA CFR Title 14Part 21 and Part 145

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS - Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience; OR a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years in quality assurance or related technical field.

Skills:

Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Aircraft cabin interior assembly

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Experience in APQP and PFMEA
  • Experience in working in MRPs and ERPs (preferred SysPro & UniPoint). Be able to perform transactions in Sypro such as job closure, inventory query, purchase order receipt and Syspro reporting. Familiar with UniPoint quality core modules (document control, corrective action, customer service and nonconformity).
  • Experience with Boeing BAC and D6 procedures such as D6-82479 Boeing Quality Management System Requirements for Suppliers and BAC5055 Silicone Sealant Application for Aircraft Interiors (FDA).
  • Work experience in Statistical Product Acceptance Requirements AS9138. Able to create in process, receiving and final inspection sampling plan with the appropriate AQL (Acceptance Quality Level) and switching rules.
  • Experience in statistics and probability.
  • Experience with TQM principles, Lean Six-Sigma and DFMA concepts.

Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:

  • Experience in regulations and AS9100 standards associated with quality assurance for the aerospace industry. Understand the difference between AS9100 and ISO9001. Be able to interpret the requirements of AS9100 and ensure the company meets those requirements including the most effective way of compliance.
  • Technical writing in creating, defining, and documenting quality assurance processes and procedures. Includes the ability to write procedures in compliance with FAA part 21, part 145, AS9100 requirement and customer requirements.
  • Experience with FaroArm and other metrology equipment. Understand the faro Arm logic and Verisurf software used.
  • Understands statistics and probability.
  • Experience with TQM principles, Lean Six-Sigma and DFMA concepts.

Other:

  • May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required.
  • This position requires up to approximately 10% Domestic and International travel, including travel which is outside the local area and overnight.

ASQ Quality Manager and Quality Engineering certification desired.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

Manages team for adherence to organizational goals, operating policies, and budgetary guidelines. Manages team performance and is responsible for training and coaching.

Develop and provide solutions to complex problems based on established precedents and are consistent with organization objectives.
