Examines heartbeat patterns on electrocardiograph (EKG) monitors to detect any abnormal heart rhythms.

Job Description

Assists physicians in emergency responses to heart irregularities. Observes an electrocardiograph (EKG) monitor and examines heartbeat patterns to identify any abnormal variations in heart rhythms. Recognizes emergency situations and informs physicians so immediate medical action can be taken. Records the heart's electrical activities using an EKG monitor and checks the quality of recorded material. Orders and stocks supplies as necessary. Prints an EKG report, detailing a patient's cardiovascular condition, for physician interpretation and diagnosis.

Qualifications

High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) certification, Cardiac Rhythm Monitoring certification (CRAT) or National Telemetry Certification (National Telemetry Association) encouraged but not required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.
