Job description

Summary

We’re partnered with a well-established civil engineering firm that’s known for its land development work across Southern California. They’re looking to bring on a Civil Project Engineer who can take on real design responsibility and start owning pieces of projects, not just drafting behind the scenes.

This is a good fit for someone who’s past the entry-level phase, comfortable in Civil 3D, and wants to keep growing toward full project ownership. You’ll be involved from early design through permitting and into construction, working closely with PMs, agencies, and field teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Technical Work

  • Design grading, drainage, street, sewer, water, and storm drain systems
  • Perform hydrology/hydraulic analysis, earthwork calculations, and utility layouts
  • Support SWPPP, NPDES, and erosion control documentation
  • Work closely with CAD teams to produce clean, agency-ready plans
Project Coordination
  • Support PMs with schedules, budgets, and overall project execution
  • Coordinate with subconsultants, contractors, and agency reviewers during design and permitting
  • Respond to plan check comments and keep projects moving through approvals
  • Assist with tentative/final maps and entitlement processes
  • Join client and agency meetings as needed
Construction Support
  • Help respond to RFIs and review submittals during construction
  • Conduct site visits and document field conditions
  • Coordinate with contractors and inspectors to resolve issues in the field
Quality & Documentation
  • Ensure deliverables meet internal standards and agency requirements
  • Keep project files, permits, and correspondence organized
  • Assist with project closeout and as-built documentation

Project Experience
  • Residential and commercial land development
  • Grading, drainage, and site design
  • Street, sewer, water, and storm drain improvements
  • Hydrology and hydraulic studies
  • Public agency plan check and permitting
  • SWPPP / erosion control
  • Projects typically ranging from $1M to $20M+

Qualifications
  • 3–7+ years of civil engineering experience (land development or public works)
  • EIT required; PE in progress or recently obtained is a big plus
  • Strong Civil 3D and AutoCAD experience
  • Familiar with local agency standards, grading requirements, and utilities
  • Solid technical writing and problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable working with clients, agencies, and contractors
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering

Compensation & Benefits
  • Bonus potential
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with match
