Job description

Nucor is North America's largest recycler and most diversified steel and steel products company. Since 1969, we've led the industry in developing innovative technologies for recycling scrap into high-quality steels that are all around us, from bridges and buildings to cars and appliances. Basic Job Functions: The EHS Supervisor will lead and coordinate the Environmental, Health and Safety programs for the division, serving as an integral member of Verco's leadership team.

This includes taking a lead role in plant-wide culture building, environmental and safety management, training, audits, facility support, and community outreach. This position is responsible for interacting with all teammates to integrate, ensure understanding, and be in compliance with Nucor's standard practices and procedures, federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. This position develops and provides applicable training, ensuring compliance with key regulatory requirements, participates in corporate environmental and safety initiatives.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of both the safety and environmental coordinators, including the setting of expectations as well as the training and development of those roles. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Requirements: Previous experience in a Safety and/or Environmental position.

A minimum of three years’ experience in leadership role. Safety or environmental degree or equivalent experience. Minimum Qualifications: Leadership Presence and Courage: Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and issues that arise.

This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on. Teamwork: Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal. Communication Skills: The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.

Problem Solving: Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Training and Development: Identifying the training needs of the division and effectively developing and implementing training and processes in order to help others improve their knowledge and skills to work safely and effectively. This includes continually evaluating progress.

Environmental: Promotes environmental stewardship while maintaining compliance in all areas of the site though conformance with Nucor's environmental program. This includes reviewing and implementing environmental technical standards and policies. Occupational Safety: Using knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, strategies, and judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws and regulations to promote standards as well as working to continuously improve processes to ensure safety of all individuals.

Preferred Qualifications: Environmental or occupational safety experience in an industrial setting. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, including industrial hygiene and testing Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
