Job Title: EH&S Manager

Location: Redmond, WA (with support of Seattle, WA site)
Department: Environmental Health & Safety
Reports To: Director, Head of EHS US

The Role:

This integral position reports to the Head of EHS, U.S. and assists with limited supervision in providing oversight and development of Environmental Health & Safety at Just-Evotec Biologics sitesin Seattle/Redmond, Washington, with primary responsibilities to support the Redmond site.This position plays a key role in developing effective partnerships with a variety stakeholders at JEB's R&D and cGMP biologics manufacturing sites to deliver on EHS initiatives and targets that drive employee engagement and empowerment through EHS tools and systems that reduce risk and ensure compliance.

A day in the life of the EHS Manager includes partnering with production, technical, lab, and facilities teams to monitor established EHS programs and enable new. Time will be spent supporting development of risk assessments and creating controls, on training efforts to include content development, in technical areas to provide guidance, and on day-to-day management of inspection programs and compliance obligations. Strong communication and influencing skills are critical to success in this position.

  • Manage development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements, corporate initiatives, and company objectives.
  • Improve awareness for our teams in the environmental and safety space through a variety of communication mechanisms.
  • Coordinate incident investigations with leaders and stakeholders to create actions that reduce risk with error-proofing solutions that focus on process gaps.
  • Lead efforts for the Redmond operations to implement new digital tools that improve risk assessment capabilities, inspection oversight, and chemical management.
  • Be the face for contractor safety and ensure high-risk activities are properly vetted and contractors are trained for activities performed onsite.
  • Support gap analyses for local policies against U.S. and Global Evotec policies.
  • Support Safety Committee Chairs to meet the charter and team objectives.
  • Lead and train the Redmond Emergency Response Team to ensure the team is capable and available to support emergency events at the Redmond facility.
  • Maintain JEB Redmond EH&S-related records, data, and metrics.
  • Perform inspections to support safety and environmental compliance for the Redmond location.

Who You Are:

  • Minimum of 7 years of EHS experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science or related field; alternatively, scientific degree followed by formal EHS training.
  • EHS experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or life science industries preferred.
  • Experience in lab safety, biosafety, emergency response,hazardous waste and hazardous materials management.
  • Deep knowledge of EHS laws and regulations that impact the organization's operations.
  • Working experience in conducting incident investigations and interacting with regulatory agencies.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams such as Facilities & Engineering, Product and Process Development, Quality, and Operations at multiple levels.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $110,000-$126,500; Base salary offered may vary depending on individual's skills, experience and competitive market value. Additional total rewards include discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision, short-term and long-term disability, company paid basic life insurance, 401k company match, flexible work, generous paid time off and paid holiday, wellness and transportation benefits.
