JOB PURPOSE: OFS, a leading manufacturer of optical fiber, cable and apparatus has an EHS Specialist position available at our fiber manufacturing facility located in Norcross, Georgia. This position will support a very dynamic, high-tech, and high-volume process that runs 24/7.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: โ€ข Generally, 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: โ€ข Interacts with regulatory agencies as it relates to citations, notices of violation, informal conferences, appeals, submittals, permit renewals, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Assists with the strategic development of trend analyses and metrics reports for the facility to decrease injury rates and improve compliance.
  • Assists with the analyses, development and implementation of processes that improve the effectiveness of the EHS programs.
  • Provides EHS-related training to location managers and associates as needed.
  • Conduct root cause investigations of all OSHA recordable injuries and near misses.
  • Conduct safety inspections of all buildings daily, documenting all findings.
  • Maintain/post proper Safety signage throughout the facility. โ€ข Report all significant findings of the facility walkthroughs to the EH&S Manager on a daily basis.
  • Meeting with management team to define EHS goals and objectives
  • Coordinates training and/or training materials to all plant employees in all safety and regulatory programs, documents and tracks training compliance.
  • Conducting inspections, identifying hazardous conditions and EHS violations.
  • Providing solutions and intervention strategies for industrial hygiene, health and safety hazards.
  • Developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs.
  • Ensuring EHS programs are effective and compliant with all governing regulations.
  • Conducting health and safety audits and inspections.
  • Leading accident investigation team, utilizing Root Cause Analysis (5 Why's) to identify causes and corrective actions to prevent similar occurrences.
  • Establish and directs plant safety shift(s) committees and their activities.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of operational processes and employee engagement
  • Update and develop written safety programs, conduct monthly Safety Committee Meetings, and investigate and resolve employee health and safety concerns.
  • Perform Safety Orientations for new hires.
  • Meeting with management team to define EHS goals and objectives
  • Perform/Coordinate safety training for applicable employees to meet annual and intermittent requirements, including Hot Work, Lockout/Tagout, Bloodborne Pathogens, First Responder Training, Hearing Conservation, Hazardous Material Training, Fire Extinguisher Training, emergency evacuation, medical emergency, and severe weather drills.
