Position Summary:


The Safety Intern will provide hands-on support to the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates interested in workplace safety, environmental compliance, and industrial operations.


This is a highly interactive, field-based role that involves spending significant time on the production floor conducting inspections, observing work practices, organizing safety documentation, and assisting with day-to-day safety initiatives. The intern will gain practical experience by working directly with employees and supervisors to help maintain a safe and compliant workplace while supporting overall operational safety efforts.

Level I: Quality – Complete and accurate work performed efficiently


Production quality and efficiency using appropriate tools and equipment, qualified to perform special processes as needed

  • Assist with routine safety inspections and audits throughout the facility.
  • Observe production floor activities and identify potential safety concerns or housekeeping issues.
  • Support the maintenance and organization of safety documentation, reports, and training records.
  • Assist with inventory and organization of PPE and other safety-related equipment.
  • Participate in facility walkthroughs and special EHS projects as assigned.
  • Consistently supports departmental quality and safety expectations.

Follow instructions – oral and/or written

  • Follow written and verbal instructions from the EHS Manager and other supervisors.
  • Complete assigned projects and administrative tasks within established timelines.
  • Assist with safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee communication efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager or his/her designate.

Safety & housekeeping

  • Maintains a clean work area with no clutter.
  • Practices safety at all times while at work.
  • Follows safety policies and procedures and speaks up when others are non-compliant.
  • Wears all safety equipment for area of work.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree in ccupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field in progress preferred.
  • Associate’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • High school GED


Experience:

  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, labor, or internship experience preferred but not required.


Skills:

Duties are performed indoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes. Exposure to hazardous materials, fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts with vibration.
