We are looking for an Associate Director of EHS who will partner with site leadership to provide direction, leadership, and technical expertise to enhance EH&S initiatives, ensuring a safe workplace and full compliance with EH&S regulations. We are seeking a proactive, dedicated professional with strong leadership, communication, strategic and analytical abilities to drive excellence in EH&S and support our business operations effectively.
What You Will Do
  • Be part of site leadership team to oversee and drive operational and EHS performance at the site.
  • Develop short and long term EHS plans for operation.
  • Manage team of experienced professionals.
  • Manage EHS Budgets, participate in capital planning.
  • Drive the culture of the EH&S program.
  • Responsible for the coordination and administration of EH&S management systems in accordance with RTX policies and procedures.
  • Organize and maintain assigned EH&S policies and procedures to achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Partner with Operations Leadership to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal and Local regulations and adherence to procedures and RTX EH&S Standard Practices.
  • Work on cross-functional projects that interface with other external groups to and within the core EH&S team.
  • Conduct trend analysis for inspection/audits, injuries, spills, near hits, and develop corrective/preventive actions to improve performance.
  • Identify opportunities to successfully integrate EH&S programs/activities into overall business operations with a focus on management system integration.
  • Interface with government agencies to maintain regulatory compliance (audits, inspections, annual reports, permit applications, etc.).
  • Interface with the Training Department to implement EHS training requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections and analyze audit/inspection findings to develop corrective actions and achieve/maintain safe workplace/work practices.
  • Assist line management with effective investigations and mistake-proofing initiatives.
  • Assist line management with the identification and correction of unsafe conditions or practices to prevent adverse impacts to our people, organization, and company.
  • Maintain records, reports, statistics, and other data relevant to EH&S performance.
  • As needed, participate in regulatory inspections and provide appropriate documents and records.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up 10%

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum of 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • 7+ Experience in EHS auditing, inspection, and identifying hazards.
  • 7+ years experience working in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or similar high-reliability sectors.
  • 7+ years experience leading teams and performance.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Additional certifications, such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Continuous Improvement experience e.g. CORE, ACE, Six Sigma, LEAN etc. strongly desired.
  • Ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization
  • Experience with risk assessment and risk reduction.
