Summary:
The EFT Specialist I is responsible for posting, reconciling, and processing daily EFT settlement activities of the Credit Union. EFT processes include Automated Clearing House (ACH) and wire transfer activities. The primary responsibility of this position is to process ACH files and wire transfers accurately and timely in accordance with established procedures, regulatory requirements, and Credit Union policies.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in banking, credit union operations, accounting, finance, cash management, payment processing or a related administrative role required
  • Basic understanding of financial transactions and account balancing principles required
  • General knowledge of NACHA and Greenbook rules and regulations and Wire Transfer compliance is preferred
  • Ability to perform effectively in an environment involving high risk functions and high transaction volumes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Accounting skills and knowledge of general office procedures.
  • System knowledge and experience required or desired
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel)

Job Responsibilities:
• Processes and transmits ACH received and originated files, including same-day transactions, errors and exceptions, reversals, and returns, in accordance with established procedures and deadlines.
• Balances and reconciles ACH files and related general ledger accounts; identifies discrepancies and escalates issues as needed.
• Processes ACH death notifications and reclamations following NACHA, Green Book, and internal procedures.
• Processes ACH unauthorized claims in accordance with Regulation E procedures and department guidelines.
• Reviews and processes indemnity letters and trace requests using established procedures.
• Reviews, verifies, and maintains ACH-related forms, including originations, revocations, stop payments, and written statements of unauthorized activity. Assists members and staff with form completion and follows up on missing or incorrect information.
• Loads and schedules ACH files and EPN returns according to department timelines and procedures.
• Loads outgoing domestic and international wire transfers; reviews requests for completeness and accuracy and escalates suspicious, incomplete, or exception items to management.
• Responds to inquiries from members, branches, internal departments, and other financial institutions regarding ACH and wire transfer processing, forms, and transaction status.
• Reviews, calculates, and scans check deposits and posts general ledger entries to support balanced settlement.
• Processes automated payroll files received from SEG groups, balances related general ledgers and assists with exception file conversion to ACH processing.
• Prepares monthly reconciliations and maintains documentation for record retention in accordance with department requirements.
• Maintains ACH, wire transfer, and payroll records and submits documentation for electronic and physical storage according to retention procedures.
• Performs other routine duties as assigned by supervisor.

The good faith range for this position is $21.00 to $24.50 hourly. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
