The Sustainability Coordinator supports LSU Campus Sustainability initiatives through engagement programming, outreach activities, volunteer coordination, student employee support, and administrative assistance. This position assists with the development and implementation of educational programs engagement opportunities that promote campus wide sustainability awareness, encourage campus participation and advance the sustainability goals of the University. The position supports Campus Sustainability with communications, outreach initiatives, event planning and institutional reporting efforts, including assistance with sustainability benchmarking programs and data management activities. The Sustainability coordinator works collaboratively with campus departments, student organizations and community partners to achieve goals.


Job Duties:


Engagement and Outreach

Plans, coordinates and executes sustainability engagement initiatives, educational programming, events, volunteer opportunities, awareness campaigns, workshops, and outreach activities. Provides logistical support for volunteers, event preparation and post-event assessment activities.- 30%


Communication & Content Development

Assists with the development of educational materials for the Campus Sustainability office, including creative assets such as posters, social media posts, web pages, newsletters, and all other promotional communications resources.- 20%


Sustainability Reporting, Data Collection & Assessment

Assist with collecting, organizing and maintaining sustainability metrics for institutional reporting

efforts, including benchmarking, participation tracking and impact assessments.- 15%


Administrative Support & Coordination

Provides administrative support for Campus Sustainability operations, including maintaining

documentation, coordinating schedules, including the scheduling of student employee tasks and

assignments, assisting with correspondence, and supporting daily communications.- 15%


Campus & Community Collaboration

Collaborate with campus organizations, committees, departments, staff, faculty, and external

partners to support cross-functional projects and advance the integration of resource efficiencies that contribute to departmental goals.- 15%


Other Duties

Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned that support Campus Sustainability operations and departmental priorities. -5%

Special or Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
  • This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, Communications, Public Relations or a related field.


1 Year experience coordinating or serving as a supportive role in coordinating outreach events, with a focus on environmental programming. Experience in digital media communication, and content creating, website maintenance.
