What You'll Do
As a Senior Program Assistant, you will serve as a key operational leader within our Hartford schools, ensuring that staff, resources, and administrative processes are aligned to support exceptional student outcomes. Responsibilities include:
  • Provide supervisory oversight, direction, scheduling, and timekeeping management for direct care and instructional staff.
  • Coordinate and maintain staffing schedules to ensure classrooms consistently meet required staffing levels.
  • Ability and willingness to work directly with students in a direct-care capacity as needed to support program operations and student success.
  • Support Certified Special Education Teachers and instructional teams by streamlining administrative and operational processes.
  • Monitor attendance and timekeeping records, process payroll adjustments, and maintain staffing data across multiple systems.
  • Review training records and support staff compliance with required certifications and learning requirements.
  • Manage classroom supplies, educational materials, petty cash, records, reports, and documentation.
  • Coordinate classroom coverage and staff absences to ensure uninterrupted instructional services.
  • Support school compliance efforts, including inspections, emergency preparedness drills, safety requirements, and transportation coordination.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, families, and educational professionals to support student success.
  • Contribute to a positive learning environment that promotes student achievement, independence, and growth.

What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five (5) years of experience managing and supervising staff combined with office management experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with data management, scheduling systems, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and foster productive working relationships.
  • Ability to work directly with students as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a closely related field.
  • Special Education certification or actively pursuing certification.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in an educational setting or working with individuals with disabilities in an instructional environment.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams and educational programming.
