PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Program Assistant for the Northside Common Ministries emergency men’s homeless shelter and food pantry is responsible for supporting the operations and compliance functions of the department. This position will facilitate routine check-ins and intakes for the food pantry. The Program Assistant will aid in the success of the NCM team and programs by assisting with pantry and shelter operations and supporting administrative functions throughout the facility. This role requires continuous collaboration within the Housing & Community Service areas and with other agency team members to ensure efficient and effective service delivery to participants of the food pantry and emergency shelter.

Duties will also include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with participants and NCM staff to complete initial intake for the food pantry and support enrollment procedures for both the Northside Common Ministries Men’s Emergency Shelter and food pantry
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources as they relate to the needs of Goodwill customers, including but not limited to their housing needs.
  • Manage pantry and shelter inventory, coordinating with the Greater Pittsburgh Foodbank(GPFB) for orders and escalating sign-offs and approvals to appropriate team members.
  • Collaborate with emergency shelter and pantry team members to maintain accurate records in accordance with agency expectations and program compliance requirements.
  • Be aware of and follow guidelines for all applicable regulatory entities such as Department of Public Welfare, Department of Labor, and PA Department of Education.

External Hiring Range: $18.11 -$20.11

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-2:00pm 30 hrs

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 4 years experience required. OR
  • Associates' Degree AND 2 years experience required. OR
  • Bachelors' Degree AND no year of experience required.

Required Experience:

Experience working in an emergency shelter setting and with administrative functions within a social service agency

REQUIRED CLEARANCES, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Candidates are expected to provide current valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) prior to first day of employment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
