Job Description


The childcare teacher provides the necessary support, resources, supervision and leadership to ensure the provision of nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting in the centre, in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the program, with the philosophy and policies of 1st Class and in strict compliance with Alberta Childcare Licensing Act.

The Childcare teacher reports to the Assistant Location Director and Location Director


Duties and Responsibilities


· Works with and supports the Directors to ensure and facilitate the smooth functioning of all aspects of the program in order to best serve the children and families in the centre.

· Ensures licensing requirements are met at all times.

· Contributes ideas based on thoughtful and insightful knowledge of the children towards planning.

· Develops and maintains positive relationships and regular communication with parents.

· Provides supervision, support and leadership to the children.

· Ensures program spaces are clean and organized at all times.

· Ensures they know the number of children in the program at all times as well as their names and details of their interests and important family unit information.

· Ensures all toys and materials are clean, maintained and developmentally appropriate at all times, reports any deficiencies to Assistant Location Director and Program Director.

. Ensures that appropriate supervision all the time.

· Performs other related duties as requested by the management team


Qualifications

· Must have a flexible schedule and be available to cover shifts within the program.

· Must have a minimum of a Level 1 - Early Childhood Educator Certificate (or enrolled/register in school to complete)

· Must have up to date Police Clearance with Vulnerable Sector (or be able to complete immediately upon hire).

· Must have valid and current Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate (or be able to complete upon hire)



Part-time hours: 20 - 35 per week Full Time: 37.5 - 40hrs
