Job Summary

The Financial Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting financial and operational decision-making by developing reporting solutions, analyzing data, and improving reporting processes across the organization. 

Reporting to the Controller, this role works closely with Finance, Operations, Shared Services, and Business Solutions teams to transform data into meaningful insights that support business performance. The successful candidate is curious, analytical, and enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and working with data from multiple systems. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to further develop their expertise in financial reporting, business intelligence, data analytics, and reporting technology. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

Reporting & Analytics 

  • Design, develop, and maintain financial and operational reports, dashboards, workflows, and key performance indicators (KPIs). 
  • Build and maintain Excel-based reports, models, and queries to support business analysis and decision-making. 
  • Build, maintain, and train teams on Power BI dashboards to support business analysis and decision-making.
  • Collect, clean, validate, and analyze data from multiple systems to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency. 
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities through data analysis and communicate findings to stakeholders. 
  • Support the ongoing enhancement of reporting capabilities across the organization. 

Systems & Reporting Solutions 

  • Develop and maintain expertise in the organization's financial reporting systems and reporting tools. 
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of financial modules, reporting solutions, and system upgrades. 
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders during system implementations and improvements. 
  • Assist with troubleshooting reporting issues, data discrepancies, and system-related challenges.  
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automation, and data quality. 

Business Partnership 

  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Shared Services, and other business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and develop practical solutions. 
  • Translate business needs into reporting, dashboards, and actionable insights. 
  • Support decision-making by providing accurate, timely, and meaningful analysis.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement 

  • Create and maintain documentation for reporting processes, systems, workflows, and reporting standards. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reporting, data quality, and process effectiveness. 
Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • 4-year university degree in Business/Finance or Data Analysis 
  • 1-2 years experience in an accounting or data related role 
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel with experience modeling, using macros and other data integration tools 
  • Experience with financial reporting/dashboarding software’s such as Tableau, Power BI, Prophix etc. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and data warehousing would be an asset 

Preferred qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related discipline. 
  • Two to three years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, business intelligence, accounting, analytics, or a related data-focused role. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, modeling, formulas, Power Query, macros, or automation tools. 
  • Experience building reports, dashboards, or analytical solutions using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Prophix, or similar platforms. 
  • Experience working with data from multiple sources and supporting reporting or analysis activities. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

Assets 

  • Experience writing or modifying SQL queries. 
  • Experience integrating data from multiple systems to support reporting and analysis. 
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, data warehousing concepts, or business intelligence environments. 
  • Experience supporting software implementations, system upgrades, or reporting enhancements. 
  • Experience working in a construction, project-based, finance, or operational environment.

Compensation Transparency

Expected Salary: $70,000 - $90,000

The base salary range for this role is listed above and may vary based on your experience.

This position also includes a competitive bonus program. Throughout the interview process, we’ll discuss your background to determine the best alignment for your experience level.
