Approximately 20 hours per week during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. Schedule will be coordinated with the supervisor around the student's course schedule and project needs. Regular weekday availability and attendance at a weekly supervisory meeting are required; some work may be completed independently or remotely when appropriate and approved.

The Department of Informatics and Engineering Systems seeks a graduate assistant to support research in Industrial Engineering education, program assessment, and learning analytics. The position will assist in the documentation and assessment of USC Upstate's Lab-in-Industry (LI2) model, in which students complete structured laboratory experiences at regional manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include organizing and analyzing student reflections, assessment results, course performance evidence, and other program data; assisting with a Bloom's taxonomy-based student learning database; developing or refining dashboards that visualize student progression; conducting focused literature reviews; and supporting conference papers, presentations, reports, and manuscripts. Assignments involving research design, data analysis, dashboard development, documentation, and writing will, where practical, be matched to the graduate assistant's experience and professional interests. This is a mentored experience in applied research, educational theory, data visualization, program assessment, and research publication.
Qualifications
Applicants should have strong organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, and an interest in educational research, learning analytics, data visualization, engineering education, or program assessment. Experience with one or more of the following is preferred but not required: Excel, Power BI or another dashboard platform, Python, R, database organization, qualitative coding, statistical analysis, technical writing, or literature review. The successful candidate must be able to manage confidential or sensitive educational data responsibly, learn new tools, work independently, regularly communicate progress, and collaborate with faculty. 
         Must be a currently enrolled graduate student with six graduate credit hours per semester
         Current graduate students are required to have a 3.0 GPA
         Newly admitted graduate students must have an undergraduate 2.75 GPA
         To maintain the position, graduate students must maintain a 3.0 GPA
