Job description

THE POSITION Begin a rewarding career with the Department of Transportation as a Roadway Programs Coordinator. This position allows you to support countywide maintenance planning, budgeting, and program oversight. You will help ensure that the workforce, materials, and resources are used wisely to keep transportation operations running smoothly.

The Department of Transportation invites you to build a meaningful career as a Roadway Programs Coordinator. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports county maintenance operations by organizing work plans, monitoring budgets, and coordinating essential administrative functions. You will help ensure that maintenance activities, resources, and staff are managed efficiently.

As a Roadway Programs Coordinator, you will perform the following duties: Work Planning: Develop annual work plans and monitor progress using system reports to ensure activities follow goals Budget Oversight: Prepare and review county budgets, track spending, and recommend adjustments to support operations Program Analysis: Review output data to evaluate productivity, allocate resources, and recommend updates to maintenance plans Staff Coordination: Supervise administrative and technical staff, organize workloads, approve leave, and review performance Inventory Management: Oversee stock records, monitor material levels, and ensure proper storage and purchasing practices Program Administration: Manage maintenance related programs such as contracts, reimbursable activities, and public information requests Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Roadway Programs Specialist or Roadway Programs Technician Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and an associate's degree in a field of business administration, computer science, highway engineering technology or closely related program; or One year of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and a bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or civil engineering related discipline; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
