Job description

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving two primary markets - passenger vehicle and commercial truck - Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

Job Purpose

The HR Manager oversees all human resources functions within the manufacturing plant, ensuring the workforce, culture, and HR practices support safe, efficient, and compliant operations. The position will partner closely with plant leadership to drive employee engagement, develop workforce capabilities, manage labor needs, and support continuous improvement.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Builds & maintains relationship with Staff & Operations Team, Union Leadership & hourly employees.
  • Administer provisions of Agreements & counsel Management in the interpretation of Agreements.
  • Administration of policies & work rules.
  • Advise Management on matters related to Union-Management relationships/issues.
  • Investigation of grievances & assist Management with resolution 
  • Conduct & advise Management on corrective discipline including coaching & progressive discipline.
  • Participate in on-boarding, orientation, transfer, exit, & assignment changes for both hourly & salary employees.
  • Respond to day-to-day employee inquiries & requests.
  • Generate HR analytical reports & metrics using HRIS system.
  • Conduct training on HR topics
  • Help coordinate employee involvement and community involvement teams and/or programs
  • Coordinate facility(s)'s communication efforts (i.e., newsletters, plant meetings, etc)
  • Analyze HR metrics and create and implement action plans based on those metrics in line with the Function and/or business objectives
  • Coordinate staffing strategies & activities (including selections, and placement)
  • Deploy strategies and programs as designed by the Company (e.g. compensation planning, talent management processes
Education and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1-5 years' HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Education minimum of a 4-year degree (BA or BS) in applicable area or education & experience equivalent.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills.
  • Strong team building & people skills including the ability to resolve conflicting interests & obtain cooperation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills & ability to easily build credibility with internal customers & associates.
  • Organizational skills - ability to manage high workload of data & multitask proficiently.
  • Integrity, must be role model for others in organization.
  • Proficiency in Windows environment, including Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook & advanced Excel abilities.  SAP or other HR systems experience a plus.  
  • Background in labor relations is strongly preferred.
