The Data Architect will lead enterprise data architecture planning, validation, and modernization support for the Customer's data environment. This role will define and validate data architecture standards, data modeling patterns, integration frameworks, Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse design concepts, data flow structures, environment separation, architecture documentation, migration readiness, and alignment between source systems, Ed-Fi ODS, Microsoft Purview, Power BI, and the broader Customer enterprise data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead current-state data architecture assessment and target-state architecture planning.
  • Define data modeling standards, schema design patterns, and integration approaches across education and non-education data domains.
  • Support Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse architecture, including medallion architecture concepts, data zone structure, data flow patterns, and environment separation.
  • Develop or support architecture design documents, data flow diagrams, security architecture concepts, integration patterns, and environment topology documentation.
  • Support Ed-Fi ODS integration and alignment with enterprise data models.
  • Provide technical direction to data engineers, analysts, and governance resources.
  • Produce or support data dictionaries, metadata catalogs, lineage documentation, and architecture decision records.
  • Support Microsoft Purview registration of data products, including ownership metadata, classification information, and sensitivity labeling where applicable.
  • Identify technical gaps, migration risks, readiness issues, and dependencies that could affect future implementation task orders.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager and Senior Data Governance Specialist to ensure architecture, security, governance, and delivery plans remain aligned.

Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer or Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Experience with medallion architecture and Lakehouse design patterns.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience with Ed-Fi or similar education data standards.
  • Experience designing enterprise data architecture for cloud-based or hybrid analytics environments.
  • Strong documentation, stakeholder communication, and technical leadership skills.
