Job description

If you are a Controls Engineering / Field Service Engineering professional looking to grow and make a meaningful impact on essential infrastructure, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you. Based in Seattle, WA, as a Sr. Field Engineer you will be part of a team of customer support engineers focused on solving engineering challenges related to the installation, startup, and operation of distributed control systems (DCS), sub-systems, and related equipment at wastewater facilities.


This is a hands-on, site-based role where you will work closely with customer teams to troubleshoot issues, support system performance, and maintain reliable plant operations in a live environment. You will collaborate with a team of engineers dedicated to solving real-world operational challenges across critical infrastructure.  


**This position supports King County wastewater facilities (Brightwater, West Point, and South Plant) and is primarily on-site. Candidates should live within approximately one hour of the service area.**

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Provide on-site technical support through a variety of related functions such as delivering hands-on instruction to customer personnel, developing and refining maintenance procedures, and performing quality control testing and product commissioning
  • Lead and coordinate field activities by guiding customer personnel through the installation, modification, and repair of control systems, subsystems, and related equipment
  • Serve as a key technical resource and trusted partner to customers, offering engineering expertise and acting as a liaison with internal teams to resolve system and equipment-related challenges
  • Document service activities clearly and accurately, including detailed reporting on issues encountered, root causes identified, and work performed to support continuous improvement and system reliability
     
Who You Are:
You understand the importance and interdependence of internal customer relationships.  You show a tremendous amount of initiative in tough situations and are exceptional at spotting and seizing opportunities and you acquire data from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems.
 
For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a similar technical educational curriculum, or relevant experience in lieu of education.
  • 5+ years of related experience.  
  • Experience working in the water/wastewater industry
  • Be able to travel up to 20% of the time. Travel for this role is primarily local within the Seattle area, with travel outside the region as needed
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
     
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Experience programming with PLC and/or DCS software.

The salary range for this role is $95,000- 140,000, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
