Position:ย  Special Education Paraprofessional - Essential Skills - Willard South Elementaryย 
Qualifications:
ย  ย  ย 1.ย  High School diploma or GED required
ย  ย  ย 2.ย  Meets all requirements outlined by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as it pertains to an instructional paraprofessional; which includes 60 college hours or passing the paraprofessional assessment--see more information atย http://www.mo.nesinc.com/Home.aspx
ย  ย  ย 3.ย ย Excellent written, oral, organizational, time management and communication skills
ย  ย  ย 4.ย  Ability to work with students with disabilities
ย  ย  ย 5.ย  Team attitude
ย  ย  ย 6.ย  Ability to lift 60lbs.
ย  ย  ย 7.ย  Completion of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification course - if not completed district does offer on-site course.
ย  ย  ย 8.ย ย Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education.

General Summary:

This position provides assistance to one or multiple supervising teachers and/or building principal.ย  Flexibility and strong organizational skills are important.ย  It is equally important to be goal driven and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while adhering to Board Policy.

Performance Responsibilities:

ย  ย  ย 1.ย  Assist in the organization environment to promote learning
ย  ย  ย 2.ย  Assist in the management of individual or small group behavior
ย  ย  ย 3.ย  Assist in the management of individual or small group learning
ย  ย  ย 4.ย  Accept direction from supervisors (including supervising teacher)
ย  ย  ย 5.ย  Willingness to assist students with disabilities with toileting skills, as needed
ย  ย  ย 6.ย  Willingness to assist students with disabilities with eating, as needed
ย  ย  ย 7.ย  Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of instructional methods and techniques of classroom control to be an effective instructional assistant
ย  ย  ย 8.ย  Conducts themselves in a professional manner when dealing with students, immediate teacher/supervisor(s), and other faculty members
ย  ย  ย 9.ย  Must complete in-service hours in accordance with the Missouri State Plan for Special Education.ย  District will provide these hours.ย ย 
ย  ย  10.ย  Understands and abides by confidentiality mandates
ย  ย  11.ย  Takes initiative in situations calling for leadership; as needed
