Job description

The Opportunity

EQL Tech is recruiting for a founding role within a venture-backed startup building the financial infrastructure for the future of education. Our client is developing the rails that allow families to access State education funds (ESAs), unlocking a $900B US Public Education budget. With $16M raised from top-tier VCs, the team is composed of elite engineers and specialists from Stripe, SpaceX, and Goldman Sachs.

The Role

As the Full Stack Lead, you will own the parent-facing mobile and web experiences from inception to launch.

  • End-to-End Ownership: Lead the reimbursements product across mobile (receipt capture, claims) and web (statementing).
  • System Design: Build for clarity and trust, ensuring families are never confused about eligibility or fund status.
  • Operational Integration: Tightly link the UI with backend and ops workflows to create a reliable payments machine with clean audit trails.
  • Data-Driven Growth: Instrument funnels and "confusion hotspots" to turn user behavior data into product improvements.
  • Setting Standards: Establish the architecture, code quality, and release processes for the app layer.

Requirements

To be successful in this founding role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Relocation/Presence: You are willing to relocate to San Francisco, CA or Phoenix, AZ and work in-person with the team.
  • Proven Shipping Velocity: you have a history of shipping apps constantly to production, including personal side projects.
  • Technical Detail: You take pride in refining design and architecture to improve the user experience.
  • Product Intuition: You have a strong "taste" for intuitive AI and pay close attention to the psychology of features.
  • Collaborative Nature: You are willing to get "out of localhost" to engage in family visits and collaborate with government agencies.
  • High Standards: You have high expectations for yourself and a deep commitment to the quality of your work.

Benefits

Commitment, Compensation & Benefits

This will be a big commitment, and we're aiming high. It needs to be something you are energised about taking on, or this isn't the team for you.

  • Competitive Salary: $125,000 - $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
  • Generous Founding Equity: We compensate you well with equity.
  • Top-Tier Backing: We've raised $16M from top-tier VCs and angels.
  • Relocation Support: You are willing to relocate to San Francisco, CA, or Phoenix, AZ, and travel to visit customers. We're an in-person company and are in the office together.
  • Comprehensive Visa Sponsorship: If you do not have a visa, we can support you.
  • Unmatched Impact: The rare opportunity to directly shape how the $900B US Public Education budget is being opened up for parents to take control of their portion (avg. $7.5k/kid/year).
