About this Position
The Electric Distribution Engineer is responsible for the engineering aspects of the design, construction, protection, and control of the electric distribution network. The engineer must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of substation and distribution system facilities. They must achieve the implementation and execution of designs in collaboration with the Electric Department personnel who are responsible for carrying out established designs, standards, and work practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical degree from an ABET accredited university
  • 5 years of related experience and/or training
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4 years of management experience
    • People and/or project management
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (preferred)
  • Registered Professional Engineers License for the State of Oklahoma (preferred)
  • Experience in substation design & maintenance, SCADA systems, and/or Milsoft analysis software (preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

Responsibilities
  • Design electrical power distribution systems in overhead and underground facilities
  • Perform engineering studies (i.e., system planning, system protection, power quality analysis, transformer loading, voltage surveys)
  • Prepare estimates and feasibility reports for projects
  • Develop construction material specifications and evaluate new products to be used by the department
  • Review and approve Pole Attachment Permit Applications
  • Collect and assimilate data derived from various periodic City reports to maintain information necessary to prepare responses to various outside agencies like FERC, DOE, EIA etc.
  • Perform and/or direct installation, operation, maintenance, and updates of the SCADA system, AMI distribution automation, and other engineering systems
  • Develop, implement, and review relay settings, control/logic schemes, metering networks, and fault/event record programs
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the NESC, City/departmental, and other applicable standards and policies that affect the design and operation of the electrical distribution infrastructure
