Job Summary
Working under the direction of University Communications, this role produces high-quality digital photo and video content to achieve marketing and communications objectives targeted at a variety of audiences and delivered across multiple platforms. The Multimedia Producer I is also responsible for the management and coordination of all photography projects within the department, oversees student workers, and advises colleagues across campus on photography best practices.
Responsibilities also include oversight of all photography equipment, managing the University's photo archives with Special Collections, and managing a library of digital photo assets (DAM - currently Canto) for use by the Marketing, Communications, and Enrollment Management teams, along with other duties as assigned.
This position serves as the University's primary photographer but also produces high-quality video assets and collaborates with the Multimedia Team on larger projects.
Responsibilities
Multimedia Production - 60%
Provide creative direction and high-quality photography/videography for campus clients (including staged shoots and special event coverage).
Collaborate with the editorial and marketing teams to provide artwork for news stories, ad campaigns, web promotions, and more.
Challenge the status quo by regularly experimenting with innovative shooting techniques and tactics (e.g., action shots, creative framing/angles, photo essay collections, etc.).
Planning/Scheduling - 20%
Manage all incoming photography requests, prioritizing projects according to external news/promotional value. This includes ensuring proper staffing, equipment, and resources are on hand for every shoot.
Coordinate with colleagues on the editorial team to explore ways of telling stories visually.
Provide regular updates on project statuses (through the Monday project management system), set clear deadlines, and deliver assets on time.
Digital Asset & Archive Management - 15%
Maintain the University's photo gallery (DAM - Canto) and develop a system for categorizing newly added photos.
Work with Special Collections to archive photography resources for future use.
Collaborate with supervisor to organize student worker assignments and schedule.
Provide guidance, assistance, and best practice tips to colleagues in outside departments who are creating their own photography assets for various web/social media pages.
Other - 5%
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Digital Media/Imaging, Photography, Technical Communication, or a related field.
Other Required Qualifications
Must be able to handle projects independently as well as collaborate seamlessly across the team and campus.
Required Experience
At least 2-5 years of prior experience creating visual assets and using editing software.
Proposed Salary
This position is a pay grade 8. The available salary range is $47,476.00 to $50,000.00. Starting salary within this range is based on relevant years of experience.
