What is an editorial associate?

An Editorial Associate is a professional who supports the editorial process in publishing, media, or academic organizations. Their responsibilities often include reviewing and editing content, coordinating with writers and editors, managing submissions, and ensuring adherence to publication guidelines. Editorial Associates may also assist with fact-checking, formatting manuscripts, and organizing editorial calendars. This role requires strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills. It serves as an entry or mid-level position on the path to more senior editorial roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an editorial associate?

To thrive as an Editorial Associate, you need strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, typically supported by a degree in English, journalism, or a related field. Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), style guides (such as AP or Chicago), and editing software like Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat is often required. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and effective communication help Editorial Associates manage deadlines and collaborate with writers and stakeholders. These skills and qualities are essential to ensure accuracy, consistency, and the timely delivery of high-quality editorial content.

What are some common challenges editorial associates face when managing multiple projects simultaneously?

Editorial Associates often juggle several projects at once, from coordinating with writers and editors to tracking deadlines and managing content revisions. One common challenge is balancing competing priorities and ensuring that each project receives adequate attention without sacrificing quality. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential to navigate shifting deadlines and last-minute changes. Collaborating closely with team members and using project management tools can help Editorial Associates stay on top of their workload and deliver high-quality content consistently.

Whatever your role, you'll be part of a global community that values your ideas and empowers you to make an impact, on your career and on the world around you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role sits on PepsiCo's Global Employer Brand Content team, responsible for top-of-funnel talent communications across the PepsiCoJobs digital ecosystem.

You are the content lead for our Professional and Tech & Digital talent audiences-the corporate, functional, and technology roles that power PepsiCo globally. You own how PepsiCo shows up for these candidates: what stories we tell, where we tell them, and how global content flexes to work in local markets.

You take centrally built campaigns and make them land identifying priority markets, shaping social activations around what these audiences respond to, and choosing the right platforms for the right content. You develop and write content for your cohort, working within the team's editorial standards and calendar, and you bring the audience insight that keeps our storytelling relevant to professional and tech talent.

You partner with the team's editorial lead, your fellow cohort leads, Recruitment Marketing, Talent Acquisition and with creative agencies to deliver work that is genuinely good, not just on-brand.

It is both a strategic and a hands-on role.

ResponsibilitiesI.      Global Social Content Strategy & Activation Planning
  • Develop and execute the master plan for global employer brand social media activations, ensuring centralized content meets global and local needs.
  • Identify anchor markets and tailor social content strategies that can be effectively localized while maintaining global alignment.
  • Ensure content is created in formats optimized for different channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, Glassdoor, TikTok, YouTube, and career websites).
  • Own and govern the global social content calendar, ensuring coordination across campaigns, cohorts, and business needs.
II.    Social Media Activation & Creative Content Leadership
  • Manage the global-to-local deployment of employer brand content, ensuring consistency in storytelling and messaging.
  • Develop and govern social content playbooks and content franchises, providing best practices and guidelines for the team and regional activation teams.
  • Ensure social media activations reflect employer branding priorities, reinforcing PepsiCo's positioning as an Employer of Choice.
  • Stay updated on emerging social media trends and leverage new digital engagement techniques to enhance content strategies.
  • Partner with creative agencies where needed to extend content production capacity, providing editorial direction and quality oversight.
III.   Collaboration with Internal & External Stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Employer Brand Content Team Leader to align editorial strategy with overall employer brand messaging.
  • Partner with cohort content leads to maintain a unified editorial voice and consistent quality across all team output.
  • Collaborate with the Recruitment Marketing Team to ensure top-of-funnel content integrates effectively with full-funnel activation efforts.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR teams to ensure local markets have the right tools, content, and guidance to deploy campaigns effectively.
  • Provide editorial direction to external creative agencies, overseeing content production, creative execution, and budget alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with global legal standards, addressing cultural nuances and localization needs when activating global campaigns.
IV.  Performance Analysis & Campaign Optimization
  • In partnership with the team's insights function, develop and refine KPIs that track the effectiveness of global employer brand content activations.
  • Use data and audience insights to continuously refine editorial and social content strategies based on performance and talent behavior trends.
  • Maintain regular reporting visibility, summarizing key findings for Talent Acquisition, Employer Branding, and Recruitment Marketing teams.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $80,200 - $134,250.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.
  • In addition to salary, PepsiCo offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees and their families, subject to elections and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Health, and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Insurance (Accident, Group Legal, Life), Defined Contribution Retirement Plan.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in social media strategy, employer branding, recruitment marketing, or digital content management, with a focus on global content.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven storytelling and editorial craft - strong writing, voice, and narrative judgment across content formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop global social content strategies, ensuring alignment with regional needs and local market activation.
  • Strong understanding of social media channels and digital content formats, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Glassdoor, YouTube, TikTok, and career websites.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to influence without direct management authority.
  • Ability to optimize content based on platform best practices, ensuring engagement, reach, and performance improvements.
