Supply Chain & Logistics Coordinator (automotive)

Location: Farmington Hills, MI

Work Arrangement: 100% On-Site

Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 annually

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Supply Chain & Logistics Coordinator to support automotive customer programs and manage critical logistics operations. This role will be responsible for coordinating customer demand, inventory planning, warehouse activities, EDI transactions, production scheduling, and customer communications to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive logistics, supply chain operations, customer service, and inventory planning. This individual must be proactive, highly organized, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all logistics activities supporting automotive customer programs.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with third-party warehouse providers.
  • Schedule and process outbound shipments according to customer-specific shipping requirements.
  • Manage EDI activities, including the preparation and transmission of Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs).
  • Monitor customer demand and inventory levels, reporting low inventory situations daily.
  • Coordinate with production facilities and internal teams to develop and maintain production schedules based on customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting data and customer planning releases within company systems.
  • Analyze demand fluctuations and proactively communicate potential supply or inventory concerns.
  • Communicate and negotiate delivery schedule adjustments with customers as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly logistics, inventory, and performance reports for management.
  • Coordinate logistics plans and transportation routes while ensuring compliance with agreed-upon shipping terms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, logistics processes, and operational controls.
  • Interface effectively with customers, suppliers, warehouses, and internal departments to support business objectives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, customer service, or related automotive operations.
  • Experience working directly with automotive OEMs and/or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Experience managing customer forecasts, planning releases, inventory, and shipment coordination.
  • Strong understanding of EDI processes and Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive business information.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a multicultural business environment.
  • Experience coordinating third-party warehouse operations and transportation providers.
