1. Occupational Summary (Position Objective & Authorities)

The primary objective(s) of the Engineering Systems Specialist 4 will be to assist team members with the use of CAD/PLM Software (Pro-Engineer, CATIA, and/or other CAD system), provide product improvements and support, troubleshoot advanced engineering software challenges, and provide written documentation for the support team.

Responsible for managing technical support cases for multiple clients and assist in the resolution of technical, business and logical software issues. The individual will also be expected to identify and document software issues and collaborate with the Engineering team to achieve resolution. The candidate will provide innovative technical solutions and system improvements for the use of CAD/PLM software. Additionally, this person will build and maintain strong client relationships. This position will work under minimal supervision.

2. Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
  • Troubleshoot and quickly diagnose CAD and PLM software issues.
  • Interface with the customer staff.
  • Work with a diverse group of customers with varying skills and different job functions.
  • Report task status and implement recovery plans as needed.
  • Provide direction, technical oversight, and support internal customers on current and future CAD and PLM system processes.
  • Create customization and automation for CATIA and/or Pro/E software.
  • Develop and train users with skills necessary to support projects and department/company goals.
  • Maintain CAD and PLM environments including databases, settings, reference data, and user accounts.
  • Manage CAE software for engineering analysis including installations and support.
  • Manage CAM software (NC programming) including installations and support (EdgeCAM, MasterCAM, or similar program desired).
3. Qualification RequirementsA. Education & Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in related Engineering or Computer Science field, OR 12 years related experience in lieu of a degree is required.
B. Work Experience - Technical Knowledge
  • Additional 8 years' experience of support in technical capabilities administering and managing CAD Software and PLM Systems, involvement in problem solving teams, and mentoring of employees.
  • LEAN Engineering or 6 Sigma training desired.
C. Professional Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required).
  • Familiar with Email and Calendar applications in a professional environment.
  • Establish a complete fluency and understanding of CATIA and/or Pro/E CAD software.
  • Advanced understanding of IT infrastructure and hardware (server setup and database administrative experience desired).
  • Experience in using Model Based Definition, Functional Tolerancing and Annotation, or Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design.
  • Management of methods and installation procedures of CAD and PLM software (CATIA, Pro/Engineer, SmarTeam, Intralink desired).
  • Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.
  • Ability to read and review written communication.
  • Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
