What is an Ede?

EDE stands for 'Eligibility Determination Entity.' In the context of healthcare, especially within the U.S. Marketplace system, an EDE is a private entity or technology platform authorized to perform eligibility determinations for health insurance coverage. EDEs allow consumers to apply for and enroll in Marketplace health insurance plans directly through their websites, rather than through HealthCare.gov. They must meet strict privacy and security requirements to handle sensitive personal information. EDEs help streamline the enrollment process and can offer additional tools or support to consumers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Ede, and why are they important?

I'm sorry, but 'Ede' does not appear to be a recognized real-world professional occupation, so I cannot provide a skills and qualifications summary for this job title.

What are some common challenges faced by Edes when integrating data from multiple sources?

Enterprise Data Engineers often encounter challenges such as inconsistent data formats, varying data quality, and the need to ensure data security and compliance when integrating data from multiple sources. They must work closely with data analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to establish clear data pipelines and robust transformation processes. Addressing these challenges requires strong problem-solving skills and a thorough understanding of both source systems and business requirements.

  • Work with business analysts, system architects, and developers to create test scenarios and scripts.
  • Lead readiness efforts for UAT environments, data sets, and supporting documentation.

Test Execution & Oversight

  • Lead the coordination and execution of UAT across multiple teams, including vendors and internal business units.
  • Oversee defect triage, resolution tracking, and impact analysis.
  • Execute risk-based testing, regression testing, and system-to-system integration validation.
  • Support performance and load testing initiatives with partners and technical teams.
  • Implement test automation strategies using tools like Selenium, Tosca, or Cypress.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

  • Provide regular reporting through dashboards, test progress reports, and executive summaries.
  • Conduct weekly status meetings, risk reviews, and post-mortem/lessons learned sessions.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, PHI, and PII data handling regulations.
  • Implement best practices and frameworks (e.g., Agile, DevOps) to streamline test cycles.
  • Maintain documentation including test scripts, traceability matrices, and issue logs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, capturing key metrics and KPIs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of QA/UAT experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in cloud-based SaaS systems, API testing, and system integration testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology and project lifecycle management.
  • Proficient in SQL, data analytics, and validation using BI tools.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with JIRA, HP ALM, or other test management tools.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools: Selenium, Tosca, or Cypress.
  • Strong understanding of Affordable Care Act (ACA) and 834 EDI transaction sets.

Preferred Experience & Knowledge:

  • Prior experience with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) integration projects.
  • Experience working with state exchanges, federal exchanges, or EDE partners.
  • Background in government agency collaboration or contracts.
  • Experience with performance/load testing coordination.

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • PMP – Project Management Professional
  • CSM – Certified Scrum Master
  • ISTQB – Certified Tester (any level)

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
