Job description

The EcoShield Waste Service Equipment Technician is responsible for ensuring the fleet operates safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime for essential transfer station equipment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine oil changes, lubricate moving parts, adjust brakes, conduct safety inspections, repair minor damage to equipment such as broken straps on trailers, minor tears in tarps, oversee PM schedule, respond to roadside service calls and perform field repairs
  • Compliance: Enforce all safety policies and procedures, conduct regular inspections, ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations
  • Record Keeping: Log repairs, parts usage, and inspections using fleet maintenance software or vehicle condition reports, maintain accurate operational records, prepare reports, manage inventory of supplies and equipment

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working as a diesel technician
  • Understanding of heavy-duty hydraulics, pneumatics, and diesel engine technologies
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to weather conditions, noise, dust, and waste materials
  • Able to sustain physical activity, including walking, standing, and lifting for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
  • Ability to operate machinery and perform site inspections

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA certification
  • CDL
  • Heavy equipment operation certification
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
