Job description

PURPOSE:

Sort and coordinate processing of clothing/wares to maintain adequate production quotas, maintain the flow of goods.

FUNCTION:

  • Sort and supply processed items to assure production quotas and deadlines are met.
  • Quality and material control.
  • General housekeeping and safety.
  • Work performed is to be within acceptable quality standards.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the ShopGoodwill Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs production activities as designated by ShopGoodwill Manager.
  • The understanding/commitment to the Goodwill Mission
  • Must be able to work with people with all abilities
  • Quality and material control
  • General housekeeping and safety
  • Recognize use, style, value, saleable, salvage, trash and seasonal
  • Maintain quota based on volume of donations
  • Mark everything that will leave the building CLEARLY
  • Direct obvious trash from box or pile
  • Maintains work station; cleanliness, neatness, orderliness, safe conditions for staff and performing proper fire safety procedures.
  • Clean when necessary
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; push or pull. Must be able to occasionally sit, kneel, squat, and climb. Must be able to regularly stoop, bend, reach tum and twist body and lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Cross train in other areas as needed
  • Performs other related duties as directed by Plant Supervisors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows the policies, procedures and special instructions set down by the ShopGoodwill Manager. Investigates and reports unsatisfactory conditions in the ShopGoodwill Manager being sure to follow the chain of command.

RELATIONS:

Establish and maintain relations with the following:

  • ShopGoodwill Manager for coordination of efforts, other workers in organization, assists in work, performs production activities, and related work.

STANDARDS FOR MEASURING PERFORMANCE:

  • Degree to which standards are reached.
  • Degree to which quotas are reached
  • Degree to which respect and confidence of co-workers is established.
  • Quality, quantity, and timeliness in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • The manner in which ones conduct reflects the high standards of morals and integrity expected of all Goodwill associates.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to special requests and the desires of management.
  • The manner in which the individual reflects his/her overall personal appearance both in following of the Goodwill dress code and personal hygiene.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred, but on-the-job training is provided.
  • Must have good work habits, such as acceptable attitude and punctuality and must respond appropriately to supervision. Must possess adequate physical endurance to work at industrial standards and must be able to lift up to 25# unassisted, and up to 50# assisted.
