Sneaker Authenticator (Interim)
Location: Moonachie, NJ
Assignment Type: Interim (through end of 2026)
About the Team and the Role:
eBay is hiring a Sneaker Authenticator to support our Authentication Operations team in Moonachie, NJ. This interim role is a stretch opportunity running through the end of 2026.
In this role, you will be responsible for authenticating footwear across a range of brands, from sneakers to high fashion. You will assess condition, identify manufacturer defects, and verify SKU and size accuracy to ensure a consistent and high-quality buyer experience.
This role requires strong knowledge of footwear trends, releases, and collaborations, as well as the ability to identify counterfeit indicators. Candidates with multi-brand experience are preferred, though brand specialists will also be considered.
Schedule: Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri. 9AM - 8PM EST
Wednesdays off.
What You Will Accomplish:
  • Authenticate new and pre-owned footwear from major brands
  • Inspect items to confirm condition and alignment with listing details
  • Identify and document counterfeit items with clear, detailed findings
  • Stay current on brand trends, product releases, and industry developments
  • Meet daily quality and productivity targets in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicate regularly with leadership on progress, challenges, and workflow updates
  • Support additional warehouse operations as needed

What You Will Bring:
  • Experience in authentication, warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of footwear, with a passion for sneakers and fashion
  • Ability to recognize counterfeit indicators and assess authenticity with confidence
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid problem-solving and research skills
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds, as needed
  • Familiarity with standard tools (e.g., spreadsheets, Slack, word processing systems)
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Additional Details
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$31,600 - $53,900
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
