Your Role:

As a PRN Respiratory Therapist, you will:

  • Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.

  • Ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature.

  • Administer medicinal gases and aerosol drugs to patients under the orders of a physician.

  • Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy through vital signs.

  • Assist patients in performing breathing exercises.

  • Observe and adjust equipment to obtain optimum results from therapy.

  • Consult with physicians in the event of adverse reactions.

  • Maintain patients' charts with pertinent identification and therapy information.

  • Inspect and test respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently.

  • Order repairs when needed.

  • Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and other healthcare personnel.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications and certifications.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education/Experience:

  • One to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Completion of an approved school for respiratory therapy.
