The Role

The position is for a Senior Mainframe Systems Engineer responsible for addressing business incidents and aligning them with the Fidelity Recordkeeping system. This role offers a strong blend of business and technology engagement, requiring a deep understanding of the Defined Contribution domain while collaborating closely with business partners.

The engineer will support both production and non-production environments, including researching and resolving application abends and managing infrastructure-related changes for Fidelity Recordkeeping applications. These applications are critical to daily operations and require a high level of reliability and responsiveness.

The role operates within Fidelity's mainframe environment and requires proficiency in core mainframe technologies, including COBOL, Assembler 370, JCL, DB2, VSAM, MVS, Endeavor, ISPF, TSO, EASYTRIEVE, CICS, Control-M, and standard IBM utilities.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in mainframe development, enhancement, and support

  • Proven production support experience within financial systems (required)

  • Strong experience developing and maintaining applications in an MVS mainframe environment

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Hands-on experience with COBOL, Assembler 370, JCL, EASYTRIEVE, DB2, VSAM, MVS, Endeavor, ISPF, TSO, CICS, Control-M, and standard IBM utilities

  • Experience in coding, testing, and implementing COBOL and Assembler 370 solutions

  • Ability to quickly learn and understand complex processes through independent research

  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage priorities and work efficiently to meet business deadlines

  • Experience triaging and resolving production incidents

  • Familiarity with COBOL/DB2 code reviews

  • Experience with debugging tools (Intertest preferred)

  • Working knowledge of Mainframe MQ and Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines is a plus

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience required

The Team

The Fidelity Record Keeping Support team's key role is the stability and availability of the Fidelity Record Keeping application to internal business and WI participants. The team has in-depth knowledge of Defined Contribution business who work with the client relationship managers and product teams to address incidents reported by participants and plan sponsors along with supporting the batch cycles and the online environments. We aim to provide outstanding support to all of our customers and help them adapt to the ever-changing technology landscape and ensure accurate data processing.

Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
