POSITION SUMMARY
Eastern Shipbuilding Group is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to support the company's internal and external communications efforts. This role is ideal for a strong writer with a passion for storytelling, digital communications, and event coordination.
The Communications Coordinator will assist with media relations, social media management, company events, employee communications, and content development that showcases Eastern's people, projects, and community impact.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, and the essential duties and responsibilities may be different from those described.
  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive attitude, reliable attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours and weekends as required.
  • A high level of communication skills is necessary.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other external communications.
  • Develop engaging content for Eastern Shipbuilding Group's social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other digital platforms.
  • Monitor social media engagement and recommend opportunities to increase audience reach and engagement.
  • Support planning and execution of company events, employee recognition programs, customer visits, vessel ceremonies, trade shows, and community outreach activities.
  • Coordinate event logistics, photography, promotional materials, and post-event communications.
  • Assist with writing internal communications, including employee newsletters, announcements, and intranet content.
  • Capture photos and videos of company projects, employees, and events for use across communication channels.
  • Maintain editorial and social media calendars.
  • Assist with media inquiries and maintain media contact lists.
  • Help ensure brand consistency across all communication materials.
  • Support website content updates and digital communications initiatives.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather information for news stories, project updates, and employee features.
  • Perform other communications and administrative duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field (internships considered).
• Excellent written, verbal, and proofreading skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience using social media platforms in a professional setting.
